Summer in the City at the Cathedral is a non-denominational summer camp run by the Saint James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago. Leslie spent 2 weeks as an Artist in Residence representing Street-Level Youth Media during the camp, both teaching video to the campers, and documenting their camp experience. About 10% of the footage used in this piece was shot by some of the campers, who were between the ages of 7 and 12.
The final video will be used as a promotional and fundraising tool by Saint James, as most of the campers are sponsored by full or partial scholarships.
On a personal note, these are awesome kids, and you should consider making a donation to Saint James to help a kid who may not otherwise afford to participate in SITC next summer.
